Instead of buying a Bicycle repair Stand, you can build one on your own. That will be a good financial decision and a great experience for you. The following is a normal, probably the most common procedure when it comes to building a bicycle stand.

For starters, provide yourself with 2 pieces of 3/4 inch plywood, dimensions 16″x24″; Plumbing pipe threaded at both ends with dimensions 56″ 1 1/4″; another plumbing pipe threaded at one end with dimensions 10″ 1 1/4″; black iron flange 1-1/4″; a 90 degree elbow black iron 1-1/4″; 4 screws; 4 washers, 4 nuts; and 6 to 8 wood screws with dimensions about 1 1/4 inches long.

For the Foam pipe insulation you will need 8 screws and 8 nuts. If you use pop rivets, you will also need 8 of them without the need of 8 nuts.

First thing you do, is cut the plywood in two pieces of of 3/4 inch to 24″ by 16″. Glue them together, thus forming a thick base of 1 1/2″. Through the bottoms screw flat headed screws of 1 1/4″. 6 or 8 screws need to be evenly placed for secure holding of the two pieces.

The column, threaded at both ends and 56″ long, will be installed on the base with the help of a flange. Center the flange 1/2″ from one of the 16″ ends. After marking where the holes should be, drill a 1/4″ hole for every bolt. With the 1/4″ bolts, place the flange on the top side of the base, and don’t forget the washers and nuts.
Now, screw the pipe on the flange, the 90 degree elbow on the upright column, and the the 10 inch piece of pipe into the elbow piece hanging out over the base.
To make the clamp, cut the PVC T section. Mark the hinges where they should be drilled. After drilling the holes, place the hinges, mount the latch on the seam opposite the hinges, and again mark and drill the holes. Mount the latch; shove clamp onto floor stand arm; and then cut foam pipe insulation piece to pad the inside of the clamp.
The purpose if the clamp is to provide the bike tilting when it loses balance.
