Bontrager bicycle tires
Bontrager is one of the worlds’ most famous bike component manufacturers. It’s interesting how a person’s hobby and passion can turn into something that is recognized world wide in the biking world.
Keith Bontrager born December 18 1954 is the founder of this company. He was a motocross biker but after all the injuries he backed down. Luckily he never gave up the lust for excitement. He turned to mountain biking soon after, but being unsatisfied with the standard mountain bicycles he decided to make one on his own. The first bike that he builds was in 1979. He worked in a small garage, gathering his materials from a dump yard near Specialized; he takes 40-hole 700c road bike rims, cuts them and re-rolls them in 32-hole 26’’ rims. That gives him the lightest rim on the market. He takes his pattern for this invention in 1986 and continues on building from there. His famous motto is “Strong, light, and cheap. Pick two.”

Keith Bontrager is described as engineer, designer, physicist, mechanic, rider, and natural-born do-it-yourself-er. He has the harshest endurance and fatigue tests. But despite being a good thinker he is a bad business man so that why he sales his own company to Treck in 1995. Keith is still the main designer there.
Tanks to the hard tests that he does on his designs today the Bontrager tires are the synonym for victory on the market (a lot of Tour de France races won with these tires).
