Bike riding in San Francisco

Since bike riding in San Francisco comes to question, there is an interesting fact and we cannot wait to share it with you. Namely, according to the records of the Municipal Transport Agency of San Francisco, there has been an increase in the use of bikes on the road in 2009 of 8.8 per cent than in 2008, and even 53 per cent increase since 2006. This year the number is expected to be even bigger even though nothing about this year is documented yet, it is however, the opinion of the Municipal Transport Agency of San Francisco.

In other words, this is going to be the fourth year of constant rising of the per cent of use of bikes as means of transport on the road since the beginning of the work of the Municipal Transport Agency. It is not some drastic difference like that between 2007 and 2008 of an amazing 25 per cent, yet it is good to know because the number of active cyclists on the road is constantly on the rise. The rise is essential to be noticed because thanks to the increased number of bike trips, San Francisco has coped well with the economy downfalls and astronomic gas prices.

Aside from the overall growth of bike riders on the road, there are many other benefits since this field of research is concerned. For instance, the number of female bike riders is significantly increased which is good because cycling is a sport like made for the fragile female joints. Outside downtown there is an increase in the number of cyclers for amazing 29 per cent in 2009 and modest 2 per cent in the downtown area.

Therefore from what was said so far we can come to a very encouraging conclusion. The investing in cycling as a safe and fun sport surely paid off in the last 3 years especially when we notice constant rise on the cyclers as members of the traffic, the almost equal number of male and female drivers as well as raising the awareness that while riding a bike some security measures must be taken.
