New York City Bike Maps
New York City is definitely the busiest city in the world; that is why it’s sometimes referred to as the center of the world. Driving through the concrete jungle is the hardest thing and during rush hours it is the slowest means of transportation. However, bike riding seems to be the perfect solution for the thousands of automobiles driving in the busiest Avenues and Streets. Whether it’s for a job or recreational activity, the city of New York has developed bike traffic with precise mapping to lead the way.

The most popular place in New York is Manhattan Island, overcrowded and sleepless 24/7. The map of Manhattan Waterfront Greenway is a bicycle route 32 miles long around the island. Many sections along the route are separated from traffic and some sections separate cyclists and pedestrians. The Manhattan Waterfront Greenway map has three principal parts; the longest, Hudson River Greenway on the West side; East River Greenway on the East side; and Harlem River Green way, the shortest and entirely uninterrupted.
Manhattan Island is the home of the biggest city park in the World, Central Park. There is no doubt about the map of bicycle routes for the park and around the park. The loop around the park has its own bike lane that is car-free during weekends and holiday.

Stretching over five miles is the Ocean Parkway from Prospect Park in Brooklyn to Coney Island. This bike path is considered to be the first one of its kind made in 1894. Its inspiration comes from the great boulevards in Europe at that time. The West side of the Ocean Parkway is a bike path; the East side is for pedestrians. A tree-lined median serves as a separation from the car and at every block intersects with cross streets.
New York City streets are the place for many bicycle competitions; the most famous one is the Five Boro Bike Tour, 42 mile drive around NYC. If you don’t have the intention to compete, take the map of the tour and pedal the streets of the competition.

Another map of a famous competition that you can try is the Harlem Skyscraper Cycling Classic tour; a circuit around Marcus Garvey Park considering as the oldest bike race in New York.
Map of Tour de Brooklyn is 18 mile route that annually holds a family-friendly bicycle tour. You can enjoy the ride even if you miss the bicycle tour. Maps for similar tours are available for Tour de Queens, Tour de Bronx and Bike Tour of DOT’s Public Art Installations.
